Advancement
Policies regarding guild promotions

Requirements

All members receive the same opportunity for advancement within the Fallen, and one's character level or game knowledge matters only marginally for this consideration. Rather, a positive attitude, friendly helpful personality, and eagerness to assist others are the strongest traits to carry with you throughout your career with us, and they also weigh heavily into any consideration for promotion. A title is far more than a mere notch in one's belt -- each ascending title introduces greater responsibilities than the previous, both in expected behavior and duties to the guild.

All new recruits invited to the guild join as an Initiate, our probationary rank. Those of this rank are not yet considered full members of the guild. A probationary period of no less than two (2) weeks must be fulfilled, along with understanding our Code and registration on this website, before the Initiate may be considered for promotion to Aspirant.

Promotions to Acolyte are given to those who have exemplified the values within our Code and proven themselves to be reliable and helpful members. Some Forum participation, including an introduction post within our Welcome Center, is also expected. Candidates must remain as a member in good standing for no less than six (6) weeks and show an active interest in the guild's policies, activities, and goals.

An Acolyte may be considered for promotion to Disciple (Junior Officer) following an extended record of stewardship to the Fallen and dedication to its future. Disciple candidates generally must also have been members for no less than three (3) months, one (1) of which as an Acolyte.

Harbinger (Senior Officer) candidates are carefully chosen from our veteran Disciples who have earned a reputation for their selfless duty and dedication to helping shape the guild's direction and spirit. Harbinger candidates are veterans who have been in the guild no less than six (6) months, three (3) of which as a Disciple.

Luminary (Executive Officer) candidates are exceptionally rare and generally among the most active, knowledgeable, and dedicated members of the guild. Among a myriad of other qualifications, the Luminary candidate generally must have dutifully served the Fallen for at least one year.

Ceremonies

Each promotion is bestowed in person or in guild chat and may or may not occur within a formalized gathering, depending on the new title that is received. The following lists the general procedure for each type of promotion.

  • Promotions to Aspirant are provided by any Disciple (or above) who has observed the Initiate's fulfilment of all basic requirements for this promotion as outlined above.

  • Promotions to Acolyte are administered by any Disciple (or above) following a Harbinger's approval. It is the Disciple's job to personally approach the Aspirant in-game to announce his or her advancement.

  • Promotions to Disciple are bestowed personally by a member of the rank Harbinger (or above). It is common that another two (or more) established Disciples attend this promotion in recognition of the new Junior Officer.

  • Promotions to Harbinger are solemn ceremonies planned in advance, and all members are invited to the event. The ceremony is not dissimilar to that of a Knighting, as the Harbinger attains among the highest honors recognized by the guild.

  • Promotions to Luminary are quite rare, as these members comprise the High Council as Executive Officers. Whenever a member is chosen to ascend to this circle, however, the ceremony is very similar to that which commemorates a newly exalted Harbinger.
